Microneedling Pre-Care + Aftercare
Please read this guidance before your appointment and refer back to it while your skin is healing. By having this treatment, you are agreeing to the pre and post care advice given below.

Prepare for your Treatment

For the best and safest treatment:
Arrive with clean skin and no makeup
Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning
Do not attend with sunburned, broken or infected skin
Pause retinoids, exfoliating acids and strong active skincare for 5–7 days
Avoid waxing, threading, depilatory creams and laser hair removal for 7 days
Wait at least 2 weeks after Botox and 4 weeks after dermal filler
Please tell us if you:
Take blood thinners or medication that affects healing
Have recently used oral isotretinoin (in the last 6 months)
Develop a rash, injury, infection or reaction before treatment
If you are pregnant or may be pregnant.
Do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to your healthcare provider.
After your Treatment: What to Expect

Slightly swollen
Temporary breakouts - these are usually fleeting and only occur within the first few days.
Mild flaking or roughness may also develop as the skin recovers.

Do
Keep hands clean
Avoid touching the skin unnecessarily
Leave the products applied during your treatment on the skin
Use a clean pillowcase and towel
Keep the skin cool
Unless advised otherwise, do not cleanse again on the evening of your treatment.
Avoid
Makeup and sunscreen for 24 hours
Exercise and sweating
Swimming
Saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs
Hot showers
Heat from the oven/cooking
Direct sunlight
Applying additional skincare

The next morning, gently using cool or tepid water
*The evening after your treatment, you can perform your first cleanse, using a gentle cleanser.
Use a simple hydrating moisturiser
Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning
Wear a hat and avoid prolonged sun exposure
Can wear makeup after 12-24 hours (ensure brushes/tools are clean)
Continue to avoid:
Retinoids
AHAs and BHAs (exfoliating acids)
Strong vitamin C
Scrubs and exfoliating products
Fragrance and essential oils
Picking, scratching or rubbing the skin
Heavy exercise if the skin still feels hot or irritated (can resume after 24 if you wish)

Dryness or light flaking can be normal.
Keep the skin moisturised
Allow flaking to shed naturally
Continue daily SPF
Do not scrub, exfoliate or peel the skin
Avoid waxing and other facial treatments

Bring on the GLOW. Your skin should begin to feel more settled and comfortable.
Continue daily SPF
Keep hydration consistent
Gradually return to your usual routine Reintroduce active products one at a time
Only restart actives once there is no redness, sensitivity or flaking.
Keep face sun protected the first 2-4 weeks
For the full 14 days after your peel, avoid:
Facial scrubs and mechanical exfoliation
Chemical peels
Microdermabrasion
Photofacials and resurfacing treatments.
Tanning or prolonged sun exposure

Wait at least 24 hours and use clean brushes or tools.

Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy sweating for at least 48 hours.

Avoid swimming for at least 7 days, or until the skin is fully settled.

Avoid significant heat for at least 7 days and until redness has fully resolved.
Possible side effects
Please Note: Infection following microneedling is very rare, but as the skin has been temporarily opened, it is possible. If you notice increasing redness, swelling, heat, worsening pain, or any pus/discharge, please seek medical advice promptly. Following your aftercare instructions carefully helps minimise this risk.

Common temporary reactions include:
Redness
Dryness
Tightness
Tenderness
Mild swelling
Itching
Flaking
Minor bruising
Temporary breakout or purging: the surfacing of existing microcomedones below the skin

Temporary changes in pigmentation
Petechiae — small pinpoint areas of bleeding beneath the skin, particularly around delicate areas such as the eyes
Cold-sore reactivation
Infection or prolonged irritation
Keeping your hands clean, following the aftercare and protecting your skin from the sun will help reduce these risks.
