The Eye edit: TIPS AND TRICKS FOR more refreshed eyes

Ever wondered how to bid farewell to morning puffiness? Well, I’ve curated a collection of tips and tricks to keeping the eyes bright and revitalised, from the vasoconstrictive powers of caffeine, the chilly embrace of cold therapy to the wonders of peptides.  Let’s dive in!

De-Puff

Awaking to puffy eyes is a shared experience, nightly, our bodies redistribute fluids that can pool and be more apparent around the eyes, resulting in undereye puffiness.

This period of being horizontal while we sleep can further allow the pooling of these fluids, which may look more apparent in the areas around the eyes. Factors like poor sleep, hay fever, or aging can exacerbate the look of this, emphasizing the need for targeted care.

For those seeking a skincare ally against under-eye puffiness, consider incorporating an eye product with coffee bean extract. Caffeine's vasoconstrictive ability can temporarily diminish swelling, making it a prized ingredient in eye creams and gels.

A standout in our studio is the SkinBetter Instant Effect Gel £81.00 (available in-studio), a soothing blend of algae, hyaluronic acid, and green coffee extract. Applied with a stainless-steel ball for a cooling massage, it's a de-puffing superstar aiding lymph drainage.

*However, remember that while vasoconstrictors offer temporary relief, addressing root causes like quality sleep and hydration is crucial for lasting improvements. Please keep in mind that if the shape, size and volume of the puffiness is pretty much consistent, this may be more of an indicator of a loss of volume to this area (which occurs naturally as we age) and not fluid retention.

Keep it cool

A pro tip for a refreshing morning routine? Embrace the chill with a cold rolling tool (like this one on Amazon). Keep it in the freezer, and when needed, use it with gentle massage movements (sweeping towards the lymph nodes as in this chart can be useful for this) to depuff and soothe.

Make use of peptides

Moving on to peptides, these miniature wonders are crucial for the delicate eye region. The skin around the eyes is inherently thinner, prone to fine lines and wrinkles.

This is why I like using peptides like Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 or Matrixyl synthe'6, which can stimulate collagen synthesis, a key player in anti-aging formulations. A go-to favorite at our studio is the Alumier AluminEye Cream £66.50 (available in-studio and via the Alumier Portal), blending tremella mushroom extract, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, niacinamide, and murumuru butter for a nourishing, age-defying concoction.

Give it a seal

Let's talk hydration. The eye area, producing less oil, is susceptible to dehydration. Embrace the 'slugging' trend, sealing in moisture with a light layer of petrolatum or a trusted Vaseline brand. This nightly ritual acts as a protective shield, locking in hydration.

Get more out of your facial

Upgrade your next facial with refreshing ‘Eye Treatment’ add-on. We kick off with a targeted hydrating eye mask for a moisture boost, followed by cooling cryotherapy to tackle fluid retention. The finale? A peptide-rich cream with a lymphatic massage. It's a quick, effective, and pampering session for brighter, rejuvenated eyes.
