SUNSCREEN PILLS πŸ’Š 🧴

WHAT ARE SUNSCREEN SUPPLEMENTS?

Active ingredient:

Polypodium Locomotos extract (PLE)

This extract comes from a tropical fern plant that is grown in Central and South America

A potent antioxidant that can protect skin cells from damage associated with ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun and other sources.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PLE SUPPLEMENTS?

  • Antioxidants: Taken orally, the extract works at a deeper cellular level that is not achieved with topically applied antioxidants. A potent antioxidant scavenges free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS), the high energy molecules that can cause cell damage and are associated with various forms of cancer.

  • Photoprotective properties: PLE helps inhibit the release of chemicals that cause inflammation, redness and itching due to UV exposure. This active reduces the forming of mutations in DNA caused by ultra-violet radiation.

  • Lessens the effect of sunburn: This antioxidant reduces the number of sunburn cells generated by UV exposure and decreases the initial signs of sunburn erythema – redness in the skin.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM PLE SUPPLEMENTS?

  • Sun sensitive skin: PLE is useful for people who are photosensitive, especially those with polymorphous light eruption (a red, blotchy skin reaction to the sun). Clinical trials show that PLE provides significant protection of the skin against UV radiation.

  • Melasma: This antioxidant has been proven to improve the severity of melasma when used with sun protective measures.

  • Extended periods outdoors: PLE can be helpful before prolonged periods of time outside, in sunnier months or areas with a high level of sun exposure (eg; on the beach, cycling, working outdoors, holidaying, walking, gardening).

HOW TO USE -

  • Take 30 minutes before you go outside.

  • Provides up to 2 hours of protection after administration.

  • Take prior to prolonged periods of time outside, sunnier months, or areas with a high level of sun exposure (eg; on the beach, cycling, working outdoors, holidaying, walking, gardening)

*OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Not a replacement for sun protection, these supplements can help lessen some of the consequences of sun exposure however, they are not a substitute to sun protective measures.

  • Consult with your doctor before taking, although PLE supplements have been in use since the 1980s with no significant side effects reported, it’s always best to speak to your physician as they may interact with other prescribed medications.
